The Islamic Development Bank, Jeddah (IDB), in pursuance of its policy of helping students belonging to Muslim Community around the world, is pleased to announce Scholarships for students from the Muslim Community of India for study in a recognized University/College in their own country. The Scholarship is for the meritorious but financially weak and needy students who intend to seek admission in the academic year 2011-12 in the First Year of the professional degree course in the field of Medicine i.e. MBBS, BDS, Pharmacy, Veterinary, Physiotherapy, Nursing including Bachelors Degree in Unani, Ayurvedic & Microbiology or Engineering (all Branches including Computer and Communications), Agriculture, Bio-Technology, Fisheries, Forestry, Food Technology, Business Administration and Law.
Applications for the scholarship should meet the following requirements:
Ø Have secured minimum 60% marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology /
Mathematics in SSC (10+2) examination except for Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh,
Karnataka, Kerala and Tamilnadu who should have 70% in the aggregate in above four
subjects.
Ø Applicants for bachelor courses in BBA + MBA (integrated course) 4 years and LAW have
scored minimum 60% marks in English and optional/elective subjects in SSC (10+2)
Ø Age not over 24 years and not in receipt of any other scholarship
Ø Students or his/her parents are financially weak and unable to pay for his/her education.
Students opting for payment seats need not apply.
Students benefiting from this scholarship must undertake to serve his/her community and country on completion of their studies for a period not less than the duration of the scholarship

2] Scholarship would be given to those students who are not able to pay the fees for their courses and whose educational performance is satisfactory.
3] There would be a written examination conducted on Sunday, 29th May, 2011 at Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad, Malegaon and Akola.
4] More than 75% of the question paper would be based on the Glorious Qur’an.
5] Students clearing the examination would be called for an interview.
6] Those students who clear the interview would be awarded 100% scholarship.
Note:
1] Those students who were awarded scholarship in the year 2010 would be required to submit the form again and give examination and also attend the interview.
2] As of now the scholarship is given only to the students from Maharashtra state.

Government of India scholarship scheme
Government of India has earmarked hundreds of crores of rupees every year for higher education of minorities, but ironically 80% scholarship was claimed by 20% minority community (Sikh). Many deserving Muslim students falling under this category are totally ignorant due to lack of guidance.
This is applicable to other states also, but I have not seen this in Gujarat. We all need to explore this to help deserving students.
